The Cross As the Way of Peace by JC Ryle

Look steadily at Jesus on the cross, if you want to feel inward peace. Look to anything of your own, and you will never feel comfortable.

Your own life and doings, your own repentance and amendment, your own morality and regularity, your own church-going, your own Bible-reading and your prayers, your own almsgiving and your charities, – what are they all but a huge mass of imperfection? Rest not upon them for a moment, in the matter of your justification. As evidences of your wishes, feelings, bias, tastes, habits, inclinations, they may be useful helps occasionally. As grounds of acceptance with God they are worthless rubbish. They cannot give you comfort; they cannot bear the weight of your sins; they cannot stand the searching eye of God. Rest on nothing but Christ crucified, and the atonement He made for you on Calvary. This, this alone is the way of peace.

Is the third temple being built in Jerusalem now?

Nov 2, 2024 Openline on moody radio hour 2

Listener:

My question is: I heard there’s a third temple being built in Israel, does it have any correlation with Jesus’s second coming?

Answer from Dr Michael Rydelnik @1:17

https://www.moodyradio.org/radioplayer.aspx?episode=621073&hour=2

Summary of the answer:

There is no building of the third temple in Jerusalem as of now. There is a small group called the temple mount faithful who wants to build the temple and Dr Rydelnik believes the group is not driven by spirituality but mostly by politics. They don’t like Israel to allow the Waqf to control the administration of Al-aqsa and the Dome of the Rock. They have built some aspects of the temple in a sense like the menorah, so that when the temple is ready they will have some rudiments of the edifices of the temple in place.

God is the source

God owns everything that we own, including giving us life, that we may still live to earn money.

Deuteronomy 8

18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. -nkjv

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. -kjv

18 But you are to remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. -nasb

18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. -niv

Christ Will Return By Surprise! By J.C. Ryle

I do not know when Christ will come again. I would think it most presumptuous if I said that I did. I am no prophet, though I love the subject of prophecy.

I dislike all fixing of dates, and naming of years, and I believe it has done great harm. I only assert positively, that Christ will come again one day to set up His kingdom on earth, and that whether the day be near, or whether it be far off — it will take the Church and the world exceedingly by surprise!

Where is Babylon in Revelation 17-18?

Openline on October 12, 2024 Hour 2

Listener:

Hi Dr Mike, in Jeremiah, he talks about the destruction of Babylon where it will not be rebuilt again, what Babylon is being talked about by the Apostle John in Revelation 18.

Answer from Dr Michael Rydelnik @5:46

https://www.moodyradio.org/radioplayer.aspx?episode=618144&hour=2

Summary of Dr Rydelnik’s answer:

There are 2 views of Babylon in Revelation 17-18. The first view says that Babylon could be symbolic of Rome. Babylon could be a Roman State. For Dr Michael Rydelnik, he does not believe Jeremiah 50-51 has been fulfilled in its complete way. He believes that Babylon will be rebuilt and Revelation 17-18 aligns with Jeremiah 50-51 and foretells the end of day destruction of Babylon.

If you want to train your children correctly, train them in the way they should go, and not in the way that they want to go. Remember children are born with a definite bias towards evil, and therefore if you let them choose for themselves, they are certain to choose wrong. The mother cannot tell what her tender little infant may grow up to be, tall or short, weak or strong, wise or foolish, he may be any of these things or not, it is all uncertain.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. – Proverbs 29:15

But one thing the mother can say with certainty: he will have a corrupt and sinful heart. It is natural for us to do wrong. “Foolishness,” says Solomon, “is bound in the heart of a child,” (Proverbs 22:15) “but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame” (Proverbs 29:15). Our hearts are like the earth on which we walk; leave it alone, and it is sure to bear weeds.

If, then, you want to be wise in dealing with your child, then you must not leave him to the guidance of his own will. Think for him, judge for him, act for him, just as you would for one who is weak and blind; but for pity’s sake, do not allow him to pursue his own unruly tastes and inclinations. It must not be his tendencies and wishes that are favored.

He does not yet know what is good for his mind and soul, any more than what is good for his body. You do not let him decide what he will eat, and what he will drink, and how he will be clothed. Be consistent, and deal with his mind in the same manner. Train him in the way that is scriptural and right, and not in the way that he thinks is right.

What did Moses commanded in Luke 5:14?

Open Line on September 28, 2024 hour 2

Listener:

Luke chapter 5, verse 14, I am trying to understand what was the sacrifice that Moses commanded for the cleansing?

Answer from Dr Michael Rydelnik @14:22

https://www.moodyradio.org/radioplayer.aspx?episode=610611&hour=2

Summary of Dr Rydelnik’s answer:

During that time, people who were cleansed of their skin diseases has to offer their sacrifices and the priests function as sort of a health examiner to see that they are cleansed. Leviticus 13 tells of the skin diseases and Leviticus 14 tells of the sacrifices when someone gets cleansed of the skin disease.

No Love for Christ? Anathema! By J.C. Ryle

If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. -1 Corinthians 16:22 (KJV)

Paul allows no way of escape to the man who does not love Christ. He leaves no loophole or excuse. A man may lack clear head-knowledge and yet be saved.

He may fail in courage, and be overcome by the fear of man, like Peter. He may fall tremendously, like David, and yet rise again. But if a person does not love Christ he is not in the way of life. The curse is yet upon him. He is on the broad road that leadeth to destruction.

The Seven Churches of Revelation – the Church of Ephesus

The first of the video series on the Seven Churches of Revelation – The Church of Ephesus

The one lesson I have learnt from the first of this video series – I could be doing many things for Jesus but my lampstand will be removed if I lose my first love.

The subtle disease of loving money by JC Ryle

Let us watch and pray against the love of money. It is a subtle disease, and often far nearer to us than we suppose. A poor man is just as liable to it as a rich man.

It is possible to love money without having it, and it is possible to have it without loving it. Let us be “content with such things as we have.” (Heb. 13:5.) We never know what we might do if we became suddenly rich. It is a striking fact, that there is only one prayer in all the Book of Proverbs, and one of the three petitions in that prayer is the wise request–“Give me neither poverty nor riches.” (Prov. 30:8.)
