Suffering draws one closer to God

When one suffers, he/she has the choice to draw near to or turn away from God. If the person makes the choice to draw near to God, he/she draws upon the strength that comes from above to endure the tribulation. He/She certainly would not like to go through it but it is suffering that moulds the character of God’s children and he/she will definitely look back at it to marvel at how God led him/her through the tribulation. It is through suffering that one grows/matures in one’s christian faith.

Psalms 120:1

In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.  -kjv

I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.  -niv

In my distress I called to the Lordand He answered me.  -hcsb

Life unto dry bones

Heard over radio regarding the prophecy about Israel being partially fulfilled, it started when the scattered Israelites started making their way back to the land of Israel until the nation of Israel was formed in 1948 until the time the nation of Israel believes in Jesus Christ as their Messiah in the future. The bones, the sinews, the flesh and the skin are being put together but the breath is not yet breathed yet.

Ezekiel 37

Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.  – kjv

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”  -niv

He said to me, “Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”  -hcsb

The Holy Spirit as the seven spirits

Just heard over radio:

The seven spirits mentioned here in Isaiah is also mentioned in Revelations

Isaiah 11

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;  -kjv

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord  -niv

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.  -hcsb

God is love

1 John 4

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  -kjv

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  -niv

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.  -hcsb

Stern words – Whoever does not love does not know God. I don’t know about you, but I struggle to love and finds that that it is supernatural when I am able to love inspite of . By the cross and only by the cross.

Question: If we profess to be christians and do not show love, will we be denied by Jesus on judgement day?

Passion about something

Just reminded of this fact over the radio, some people derive their passion  from past hurts.

My thought about passion: A passion could be developed if the person is serving a greater purpose.

Question: What are the other ways passion about something could be derived?

Betrayal by a trusted friend

Prophecy of Judas Iscariot’s betrayal:

Psalms 41

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.  -kjv

Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.  -niv

Even my friend in whom I trusted, one who ate my bread, has raised his heel against me.  -hcsb

Fulfilment:

Luke 22

47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?  -kjv

47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”  -niv

47 While He was still speaking, suddenly a mob was there, and one of the Twelve named Judas was leading them. He came near Jesus to kiss Him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”  -hcsb
