Does God still heal sicknesses nowadays?

Openline program on Moody Radio on January 10, 2026 Hour 2 @3:14

Question:

Hi, I want to ask you about biblical healing like today, you know? I have heard conflicting things on this, I grew up being taught that if we just ask and if the Lord wants to, He will. And I recently heard teachings that people say Jesus never turns anybody down and we are all supposed to be able to be healed even if things like come at us, it doesn’t mean that we will not be sick but we are supposed to be healed. What is your thoughts on that?

Summary of Dr Rydelnik’s answer:

Throughout biblical history, there are only around 2 hundred years where there were radical signs and wonders including healings, including the period of Moses and Joshua and then Elijah and Elisha and then the Lord Jesus and the Apostles. Each time it was a time of new revelation, Moses gave the law and Joshua also did miracles and then Elijah and Elisha established the prophetic period. This began the prophetic ministry of the different prophets to Israel. They did miracles and it was a period of new revelation. And then Jesus and his disciples during the period of new covenant, the new testament being written. I think signs and wonders in this unusual amount is part of new revelation.

If a person is sick, I pray in a variety of ways. I pray for miraculous healing. I pray God that if you don’t heal miraculously, I pray that you will providentially make all the medical treatments work. So often, we think that this antibiotic is suppose to heal this sickness or it works because this surgery is suppose to work. Unless the Lord heals by His guiding hand, the sickness will not heal. So, we do not demand that God heals our sicknesses but pray that God will guide and heals us if He so wills. We should always pray more and who knows, God may heal our sicknesses.
