I used to think that after saying a prayer for clear skies and to have faith that the sky will not rain on an overcast horizon, one should not bring along an umbrella. It’s like it’s great faith to expect God to answer our prayers of not sending the rain.
Now, I beg to differ. After we say a prayer for a clear day and if the sky is overcast, we should bring along an umbrella. We should not demand God to answer our prayer by not bringing an umbrella but rather submit ourselves to His will and quietly hope that God will answer our prayers. Maybe some other christian needs the rain on that day in that particular area, who knows? Faith is accepting the sovereignty of God and submitting our will to His will and not about God answering our prayers.

Indeed, a dilemma of what kind of posture do we adopt when we pray.
With an open hand that accepts what come may, or with the kind of faith that is accompanied by a strong (subjective?) belief that God will surely answer it positively.

Thai Shin. Now you are thinking correctly. The most important point is do not forget to pray and then believe because each & every pray is answered by our Savior. He always says yes, no, or let’s wait.

Yes, nicely put. And said another way: God’s world does not revolve around us, but around Him and His grand purposes! He graciously and increasingly sets us free from our ego-centric view of our own life and circumstances. His priority and purpose is first and always that we should be conformed to the image of His Son (Rom. 8:28-30), not necessarily that “the sun should shine.” The Spirit helps us in our weakness since we do not know what to pray for as we ought. God does not remove this weakness this side of glory; rather, He transcends it (Rom. 8:26-27) with His own perfect intercession.
